Scholarship Programs

New River Light & Power Company contributes $750,000 each year to the general scholarship fund at Appalachian State University. This contribution goes to support the Chancellor's Scholarship and other scholarships awarded in the name of the university.

In addition, New River Light & Power Company administers a scholarship program in conjunction with the Students at Appalachian Statescholarship programs offered by Appalachian State University.  All current graduating high school seniors residing in Watauga County who have been accepted to Appalachian State University are eligible to apply for the New River Light and Power Scholarship.

The New River Light and Power Scholarship is renewable for up to eight consecutive semesters or four years of undergraduate work, excluding summer sessions.  All recipients must maintain a required GPA at the end of each academic year in order to retain the scholarship.  Applications may be obtained by visiting the Appalachian State University Office of Admissions First Connections website:   https://firstconnections.appstate.edu/ugaweb/ .

 

Energy Efficiency Seminar On March 31, 2011, New River Light & Power and W.A.M.Y. Community Action presented “A Homeowner’s Guide to Energy Efficiency”. This was a free seminar that was designed to educate NRLP customers on how they can conserve energy and lower heating and cooling bills.   Click to view flyer
