Small change can add up and help transform lives!
New River Light & Power is proudly partnered with the Hospitality House of Northwest North Carolina in the community-oriented NRLP Good Neighbor Round Up Program, helping our neighbors keep the electricity flowing.
Program Overview
This voluntary program helps provide financial assistance to our neighbors in need. All money received goes towards providing electric bill assistance through the WeCAN program for customers in the NRLP service area. Your donation can make a difference for some of our most vulnerable community members. With your assistance, we can keep the lights on and the power going for our neighbors in need.
You can choose to participate in three ways.
First, you can simply have your electric bill rounded up to the next whole dollar amount.
For example, if your electric bill is $65.55 for the month, it will be rounded up to $66.00 with 45 cents going into the Good Neighbor Round Up Program’s Trust Account. Customer’s maximum round up donations will never exceed $11.88 per year.
You can also designate a flat amount to be donated with each monthly bill. For example, you may donate $10 dollars a month to the program and that will be added to your bill total.
Finally, anyone can make a one-time donation to the program. You don't have to be an NRLP customer to contribute to this worthwhile cause. Simply call our customer service team at 828-264-3671 or stop by our office to learn how you can make a donation to the Good Neighbor Round Up Program.
All donations are tax-deductible and your monthly contributions will be indicated on your bill. You may request in writing the cancellation of your contribution to be made prior to your next billing.
All collected donations will be kept in a separate trust account solely for the NRLP Good Neighbor Round Up Program recipients who will be selected by the Hospitality House of Northwest NC. NRLP will manage the non-profit trust account. All administrative costs towards this program will be absorbed by NRLP.
We believe small change can add up to a big impact. Join us in helping our community keep the lights on, one round up at a time.
We make it easy to participate by offering three contribution options:
- Choose to round up your electric bill to the next whole dollar amount.
- Add an additional fixed amount to your monthly “rounded up” bill. Add an extra $1, $5, $10 or amount of your choice.
- Make a one-time donation.
You do not have to be a customer of NRLP to donate to the program! If you would like to participate but are not a customer, you can make a donation by cash or check.
You can send in your donation by mail or drop it by our office. Please designate that it's for the Good Neighbor Round Up Program.
