NRLP customers working with certified electricians, please ensure that your contractor goes through the proper process to make repairs or install generators. Contractors must submit permits to the Town of Boone or Watauga County Inspection offices before NRLP can turn your power on. This is for your safety. Contractors should contact these offices as soon as possible because appointments are limited. Additionally, if your contractor is going to disconnect your meter, we need to know before they begin. We want to make sure that everyone stays safe through their repairs and avoid prolonged outage times.  Please call us at 828-264-3671, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., if you have any questions or concerns. For more details, please read the Notice Regarding Repairs That May Impact Utility Meters.

Empowering Our Community

NRLP is dedicated to supporting and helping power a cleaner, brighter future for our communities through university and community partnerships, employee engagement and sustainability efforts.

NRLP is actively engaged with several sustainability initiatives that benefit both our customers and our community.

Customers can save both energy and money by participating in the prepaid service program, picking up one of our energy conservation kits and making the switch to LED lighting.

Our Green Power Program allows customers to offset the use of carbon-based energy by purchasing blocks of clean, renewable hydroelectric energy. Blocks purchased replace carbon-based sources of energy, lowering the carbon footprint of NRLP customers and the Western North Carolina region.

Customers and community members can also help keep the lights turned on for their neighbors throughout the High Country by participating the the Good Neighbor Round Up Program. This small contibution effort helps elderly residents, struggling families and those with medical bills and other financial stresses maintain their basic electric service.

Sustainability Initiatives
Helping our community work toward a cleaner, greener future

From programs that save customers money and energy to our electric vehicle charging station and Green Power Program, NRLP is engaged in a variety of sustainability initiative across the App State campus and the Boone community.

Good Neighbor Round Up Program
Help your neighbors keep the lights on for less than a dollar a month

NRLP has partnered with the Hospitality House of Northwest North Carolina to help transform lives and assist community members in need through a voluntary donation program.
