Moving out can be stressful. A little planning can help avoid issues down the road.
As the summer move-out season begins, New River Light and Power reminds customers to schedule their electric service disconnection before leaving the area.
If you’ve already moved out, you can still submit a request. Electric service remains active — and charges continue — until a disconnect request is submitted by the account holder and is processed by the NRLP team.
Plan ahead before you leave
Taking a few minutes now can help you avoid unnecessary charges later.
-
Submit your electric service disconnect request
- Select your move-out date
- Provide a forwarding address for final billing or refunds
As you move out
A quick final check can make a difference:
-
Turn off lights and appliances
- Remove all personal belongings
- Empty trash and clean out the refrigerator
- Check closets, cabinets, thermostat and storage spaces
After you leave
Even if you’ve already moved, it’s not too late to get your paperwork in:
