Public Power Week

Each October, New River Light and Power joins public power utilities across the country in celebrating Public Power Week — a time to recognize the people, programs and partnerships that help power our communities.

NRLP has proudly powered the Town of Boone area since 1915. As your local electric utility, NRLP provides reliable electric service to approximately 9,000 customers while supporting the community we call home. 

Public Power Week allows us to highlight the people behind the power, connect with our customers and community while sharing more about the work that keeps the High Country powered every day.

We’re celebrating all week long! Here’s what’s happening:

Public Power Week Coloring & Creativity Contest
We’re partnering with local students at Hardin Park to celebrate public power through creativity. Want to join the fun? Download a coloring sheet, get creative and bring your completed artwork by the NRLP office during Public Power Week. All participants will receive an NRLP bookmark and artwork will be displayed in our lobby.

Celebrate With Us
Stop by NRLP during Public Power Week for giveaways, activities and a few surprises while supplies last. 

Giving Back
Our team continues the Public Power Week tradition of giving back through an employee donation drive to benefit children staying at the Hospitality House of NWNC.
