ENERGY STAR®, administered by the EPA, is a voluntary labeling program created to make energy efficiency choices easier for consumers. The EPA sets energy efficiency standards and organizations that meet them can display the ENERGY STAR logo. The blue ENERGY STAR label provides credible and unbiased information that consumers and businesses have to rely on to make well-informed energy decisions.

The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), is a state-funded program for low-income households to weatherize their homes and repair or replace home heating systems. The administration authority for Watauga County is WAMY Community Action, Inc.

Low Income Energy Assistance (LIEAP), and the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) are federally-funded programs that provide payments to help eligible households pay their heating bills. Both LIEAP and CIP are administered by DSS of Watauga County.
